August 6th, 2008 at 18:13:32 This whole problem of performers "distracting" us with their bodies is something classical audiences and critics have developed to differentiate poseurs from good performers. In the jazz idiom, we do not generally separate the dance if you will from the sound. They are all of a piece, and it is the body that is creating the piece in real time. I don't think the criticism about Jarrett's gyrations is one native to the idiom he is working in.

August 6th, 2008 at 18:59:30 what a touch!!!
August 6th, 2008 at 19:22:29 I find rather a bit ridiculous that listening someone plying with such a grace someone else could insted think about his body...I am glad for the music performance that is a gift an amazing gift
August 6th, 2008 at 19:45:28 Perhaps it is unavoidable as much mind and body are connected. In the effort to find the continuation, you concentrate but at the same time that express in muscular contortions.
August 6th, 2008 at 20:08:27 well i know that as a musician i have to take into account the visual aspect of the performance & i am well aware that people can find excessive 'expression' through the body somewhat disconcerting, myself included. yes my personal opinion is that it looks a bit ridiculous but i dont think that makes me a 'musical snob, i think the expression should be mainly through the music. i have as much right to an opinion as you,i just dont have the nerve to ridicule others for what they think
August 6th, 2008 at 20:31:26 I love this song, whenever I feel sad and sensitive, I listen to this song and this version. ////////////////////////great

August 6th, 2008 at 22:26:21 Brings tears to my eyes.
August 6th, 2008 at 22:49:20 This is Porgy from a more distant view. Intelligent performance, I believe.

August 7th, 2008 at 23:58:17 it's enthralling and indescribable and miraculous and tantalizing and unearthly and it's a telling tune...it's leading me cry...so it's incomprehensible,inimitable...and i don't know...i'm not very articulate... :)
August 7th, 2008 at 00:21:16 My post is about another piece, and there is NO image of it: I TOTALLY GIVE UP!!!!!KEITH JARRETT's SOLO in "PERSONAL MOUNTAINS" IS THE BEST PIANO SOLO I'VE EVER HEARD!!! I've been listening to Personal Mountains for the last decade or so...I keep going back to it, occasionally. AND IT's ALWAYS THE SAME FEELING: it's THE VERY BEST JAZZ PIANO SOLO EVER!!!!!The most intense piano solo in jazz history. "PERSONAL MOUNTAINS", Keith Jarrett.

August 7th, 2008 at 02:39:10 beautifully controlled, and every note with exemplary clarity. However, better listened to than watched. (Sit down, Keith - it's not "Tutti Frutti").
August 7th, 2008 at 03:02:09 Maravilloso!!!!!!!!!!!
August 7th, 2008 at 03:25:08 Assolutamente insopportabile a vedersi, tuttavia bella interpretazione, anche se molto incolore...
